I was strolling along the philosopher’s walk, thinking things over, when I saw this scene. I just composed the frame so that the canal led from the bottom of the frame, to the horizontal and vertical 1/3, in the upper right of the frame.
This is one of many shots I took that day where I wish I had brought my tripod. Because of the shade, I was shooting at the maximum aperture for the focal length, and a little slower than is ideal for a handheld shot.
Although I was at Ginkaku-ji in the middle of the day, it was slightly overcast and these mosses were in the shade. Shooting at ISO 100, with a wide aperture, this was taken with a shutter speed of 1/40 second. That’s slower than I would have liked, so to make sure that I got at [...]
